Beautiful large borders

Towards the end of 2024 I was contacted by a very knowledgable gardener who had recently moved house and brought lots of already well established plants with her.

Although she had downsized the new garden was by most standards still on the large size. It was very sparsely planted, with a large tired lawn, lots of gravel and was crying out for some much needed TLC.

I was asked to design the whole garden with several entertainment areas but the emphasis was to be placed on the huge overflowing borders where the plants would obscure the view of the whole garden.

With building work to be done on the house and my clients lovely plants still in pots, the garden needed to be broken up in stages. The essential part was to get the borders shaped and planted by Christmas 2024 taking advantage of the warm soil and mild weather. A raised bed, evening seating area and pathways defining the borders were also constructed at the same time.

Having been in now for over a year the borders are already looking fabulous and filling out. The reason for their quick establishment is definitely a result of the diligent soil preparation that was carried out; tons of new topsoil and mushroom compost ensured that they had the best start in their new home.

Moving forward to stage 2 at the end of 2025 construction began on the main patio by the house following completion of the building works. Around the side of the house will be a separate courtyard which will enjoy the morning sun in a more intimate setting.

Client Testimonial

I would like to thank Jo for all her help, support and actual digging to create my new garden.
Starting with virtually a blank canvas, Jo designed the garden listening carefully to my wish list and how the garden would be used and enjoyed...
...Jo was a pleasure to work with and I have asked her to continue to help me improve the garden as it matures.
I would recommend her to plan a new, improve an existing or just have a small revamp of your garden.
